Kefalonia, Greece: Agios Gerasimos, Ancient Tree
 Saint Gerasimos is the patron saint of Kefalonia. He died in 1579 and was canonized in 1622. He was famous for helping those with mental illness. His relics lie at this monastery in a silver casket. Each year on his feast day (16th August) and on the anniversary of his death (20th October) there is a grand procession, in which his sarcophagus is paraded and laid under the ancient plane tree, which the Saint planted.The Saint used to live and pray in a cave under this monastery and pilgrims come to the cave, to honour him.
