Once you have managed to navigate your way down the steep, narrow, twisting and frightening road which leads to the beach at Anti Samos, you can see why it was one of the beaches used for the filming of Captain Correli's Mandolin. It is beautiful.
Despite first impressions, the beach is NOT white sand it is white pebbles. But this probably accounts for the amazing, clear, azure sea....
Amazingly, it is totally undeveloped. There is a small shack serving snacks beside the beach and one more taverna. That was it for facilities, when we were there. The life guard very kindly let us take this shot from his look-out cabin. This would be the perfect spot for a bit of camping on the beach, away from the crowds, with only what nature provided in the way of amenities.
