Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia and its main port. You can see a monument or obelisk next to the causeway here. This obelisk used to have the inscription, 'To the glory of the British Empire' inscribed on it. This disappeared in 1865, when the Greeks regained control of their island. Fair enough.
