We stayed in Skala - one of the main holiday resorts on Kefalonia and, were delighted with our choice. True, it isn't a quiet, quaint, little fishing village. But it is still Greece, albeit a version which caters for the tourists.
Skala beach is expansive most of it flat and sandy, with caves and rocky outcrops to the south (this photo is taken at the north). Although we were there in the May school holidays, the beach was largely empty. The rows of parasols suggested that this may not be the case in summer.
