Saint Gerasimos is the patron saint of Kefalonia and his relics lie at this monastery in a silver casket. Each year on his feast day (16th August) and on the anniversary of his death (20th October) there is a grand procession, in which his sarcophagus is paraded and laid under the ancient plane tree, which the Saint planted.
It is a quiet, peaceful spot and well worth a visit.
